Professor of Photonics
Cesare Soci is an applied physicist specializing in optical spectroscopy and nanophotonics. He earned his Laurea and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from the University of Pavia in 2000 and 2005. Following his doctorate, he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of California, Santa Barbara’s Center for Polymers and Organic Solids (2005–2006) and the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of California, San Diego (2006–2009). In 2009, he joined Nanyang Technological University (NTU), where he holds a joint appointment at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) and the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE). He is the founder and principal investigator of the Optical Science of Nanomaterials Laboratory and co-director of the Centre for Disruptive Photonic Technologies (CDPT), focusing on light-matter interactions in emerging optoelectronic systems. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics Singapore (IPS), the Optical Society (OSA), and the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE).
