Prof Yu’s current research focuses on synthesis of nanostructures, assembly and manipulation of 1D nanostructure, and development of nanodevice:

1. Graphene: preparation, optical characterization, chemical/biological sensor, electrical devices.

2. Synthesizes of metal oxide nanostructures with controlled morphologies and patterns for sustainable energy.

3. Electronic transport and mechanical properties of individual nanostructures.

4. Nanowire FETs for nanoelectronics, nano-chemical sensors and nano-biological sensors.
