In 2005, our group moved from the National University of Singapore, where we had been for eleven years, to the new division of Chemistry and Biological Chemistry @ Nanyang Technological University. The central theme of our research is "organic synthesis". We are especially interested in the development of new C-C and C-X bond formation reactions with predictable control of stereochemistry under very mild and environmentally friendly conditions and then apply them to the synthesis of complex natural products with interesting biological activities. At the same time, we are also interested in the discovery of new reactions and concepts through the total synthesis of natural products.

Research activities in our group include:

Practical Asymmetric Catalysis

Green Chemistry

Bioinspired Organic Reactions

Cascade/tandem/domino reactions: One-pot synthesis of natural products

Chemical Funtionalization of biomolecules

Practical synthetic methodologies and reagents

Total synthesis of natural products and pharmaceuticals
